El hambre
Katsu, Alma
In May 1846 a caravan of pioneers -the Donner Expedition- left Missouri for California. They took a new route across the Great Salt Lake Desert and found themselves stuck in the Sierra Nevada that winter due to difficult terrain and a series of mishaps. When they were able to rescue them in February of the following year, many pioneers had died and it is assumed that those who remained alive had managed to survive thanks to cannibalism. Until here, the story. Alma Katsu takes this legendary episode of the American West and recreates it with a special twist. The caravan not only faces the cold, the loss of livestock, the lack of provisions, the quarrels between its members... but the forest begins to fill with creatures that stalk them.
