Guti was an important figure in Catalan politics and part of the vitality, intelligence and unitary disposition of the resistance to Francoism bears his mark. The collective transformations were his passion around four great goals: the reconquest of freedom, the construction of a democratic socialism, the full national recognition of Catalonia and the dream of a social and enlightened Europe. He put himself at the enthusiastic service of these causes, as a militant and leader of the PSUC, the party of the communists and anti-Francoists of Catalonia.
