El gallo de oro y otros relatos
Rulfo, Juan
Zepeda, Jorge (1975- )
(ed.)
"El gallo de oro" is the second novel by Juan Rulfo and the third of the books whose edition he authorized during his lifetime. Chronologically, it has its origins in the years after the appearance of "El Llano en llamas" (1953) and "Pedro Páramo" (1955), when Rulfo was more exposed to public opinion and began to write a story designed to adapt to the movies. The novel, however, did not appear as such until much later, in 1980, in a volume that also brought together "other stories for the cinema", which has contributed to the misguided determination of critics to consider it, despite its clearly novelistic nature. , as a script or cinematographic argument. This volume offers "El gallo de oro" together with other short stories of decided importance for the narrative universe of Juan Rulfo, and, very particularly, for the two great works with which he became known.
