This book aims to present a comparative overview of the situation of center-right parties in Europe. If in the past there was justifiably talk of a crisis of the European social democratic parties, especially since the 2008 crisis, today, after the loss of the government by the German CDU in the elections of September 26, 2021 one can speak of a similar crisis in the center right. But to analyze these parties it is necessary to define them. We consider center-right parties to be those parties that defend the European project (EU), liberal democracy, the market economy and the welfare state. Basically, these parties are within the European People's Party, although they may not be due to their country's own party structure. The ideological currents that integrate them are Christian democracy, liberalism and conservatism. It is important to note that these parties may have changed over time, they may be new and even, in some cases, have disappeared. In addition, we consider that only those parties with sufficient weight to be true national political actors, with significant electoral representation, with government experience or with the capacity to achieve it, are worthy of analysis. Since these parties aspire to represent the majority values ??of a society, their natural opponents are the class parties, the populist parties, that is, the extremist parties in general. In short, the center parties are moderate parties, committed to democracy, individual freedom, economic and social welfare, and the European project.
