El final de l'idil·li
Greene, Graham
In 1946, in a London where piles of rubble from bombed-out buildings still coexist with sacks of sand, young writer Maurice Bendix stumbles upon diplomat Henry Miles, who invites him to his home. There he meets Henry's wife, Sarah, with whom Maurice had had a clandestine relationship, which she suddenly cut off. Confidentially, Henry confesses to Maurice that he suspects that his wife is unfaithful to him, but he does not dare to ask her directly for fear that the relationship will break up. As a result of this revelation, Maurice, jealous and curious, hires a private detective to find out the truth about the woman he has not stopped loving.
