El fin de la educación
la escuela que dejó de ser
Massó Aguadé, Xavier
What are the reforms that have been implemented in the educational system for three decades? Is it a matter of adapting it to the new times so that it continues to fulfill its function of transmitting knowledge or of distorting it to subordinate it to other tasks? Are these innovations the means by which we use to improve the educational system or the instrument to liquidate it? If the introduction of reforms aims to adapt the educational system to a new reality, its objective and its functions should remain intact, but if with them we are distorting it and taking it beyond its own limits and possibilities, then we are also altering its nature, the very concept of the educational system, leading to its collapse and end as such. This book addresses current educational problems from the three meanings of the term "end" applied to the educational system. End, as objective or purpose: the nature and functions of an educational system; end, as limits and domain: the area that, depending on its objectives and functions, is its own; and end as completion, the end of a school driven to stop being what it was, perhaps reconverted to functions other than the one for which it was conceived. With all that this entails, because if the school stops fulfilling its function, no one can do it for it.
