In the early hours of an Easter Sunday, a torn mother walks the streets of Fond-Zombi, on the island of Martinique, and a baby abandoned in a cabin cries between the hooves of a mule. Now an adult, that baby, named Pascal, lives peacefully with his adoptive family. He is attractive, half-breed from nowhere, and his eyes are as green as the sea that has seen him grow. But the mystery of his existence soon takes its toll on her. What are his origins? What is expected of him? Evil tongues speak and rumors fly around the island. It is said that he heals the sick, that he performs miraculous fishing... Even that he is the son of god, but whose? In search of answers, Pascal ventures into an America where there is still much to do and say. A prophet without a message, a messiah without salvation, he confronts the great mysteries of this world. Colonialism, racism, exploitation and globalization merge with his own experiences in a story full of beauty and horror, love and heartbreak, hope and defeat.
