El espacio de la imaginación
McEwan, Ian
In 1940 George Orwell published the essay "In the Belly of the Whale", in which he asks how writers can combine aesthetic integrity and political commitment. They are compatible? Which should prevail over the other? Does it make sense to require a creator to denounce the injustices of the world? Years later, in 1957, Albert Camus, another heterodox anti-totalitarian, and early denouncer of Stalinism, raised the same issue. Ian McEwan addresses the relationship between art and commitment from them, because his reflections continue to challenge us in today's troubled world.
