El darrer dia

Coca, Jordi

"Maybe you want a cat? I have a bunch of beautiful ones and I don't know what to do with them. If no one wants them I'll have to kill them." So suddenly and without much thought one fine day the main couple of the novel take in a cat, the Cloud. Living with it allows the narrator to be a spectator of his life, from birth to death. Little by little, this new coexistence causes everything to be relativized: the value of time, emotions, the possibility of communicating, of loving... Until the narrator realizes that the cat is also watching him, and who does it with an air of dignity. It is then that animal life is imposed on him like a miracle. This is where The Last Day comes from, and leaving a house where one has lived for quite some time. And to reread Chekhov.
