Four warrior clans have inhabited the land around the lake for many moons as equals, until a prophecy predicts that three cats of the Thunder Clan will hold the power of the stars in their paws. Glayo and Leonado know that they are two of the cats. The rest of the cats must wait for a signal from the Star Clan to discover the identity of the third. Meanwhile, Little Turtle Dove and Little Spinel, relatives of the great Fire Star leader, are ready to become apprentices to the Thunder Clan. A sister has a disturbing dream and little by little she will begin to realize that her premonitory abilities are more powerful than those of any other cat.
