El crimen de Malladas

El crimen de Malladas

por vuestra boca muerta

Roso, Luis

In the summer of 1915, five victims - including two girls and a pregnant woman - were hacked to death on a remote farm in a border town northwest of Cáceres, and five local peasants were arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment as a result. The sentence was the beginning of a long process of searching for the truth carried out by the defense lawyers, convinced of the innocence of their defendants and that a very serious judicial error had been committed. And even that all this could be part of a much darker and heinous plot than the crime itself. The case became so relevant that it came to test the stability of the political and judicial system of the Restoration, involving, in one way or another, characters and institutions of the time such as Miguel de Unamuno, the PSOE, the feminist movement, the Freemasonry or King Alfonso XIII himself.
