El Club de los Portaféretros
Tremblay, Paul
In the 1980s, Art Barbara was not exactly popular. He was a lonely student who listened to hair metal, had to sleep in a monstrous brace because of his scoliosis, and had started an after-school club to volunteer at sparsely attended funerals. So it came as a surprise when a girl joined the Coffin Bearers Club and told him it was a great idea. If she even took her Polaroid to take pictures of the corpses! Okay, that part had been a bit weird. So was his obsessive interest in a famous New England tradition that involved digging up the dead. And there were other strange things that always happened when she was around her, some quite disturbing... But they were friends, so it was okay, right? Decades later, Art tries to make sense of memories of him by writing The Pallbearers Club. However, what seemed like the ideal way to reconcile with his past will have unexpected consequences when his old friend reads the manuscript.
