El círculo de las hijas perdidas

El círculo de las hijas perdidas

Drager, Lindsey

The stories that a cold academic narrates to his little girl before going to sleep are interspersed with the stories of a group of parents with lost daughters who meet every week, on the thirty-third floor of an abandoned umbrella factory, to alleviate the pain. These fables about the losses of Dorothies and Alices are joined by a chorus of macabre girls' voices in which authors such as Mary Shelley, Charlotte Brontë, Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Virginia Woolf resound. "The Circle of the Lost Daughters" is a surprising gothic tale that fuses the oral tradition of folklore with stylistic experimentation, in which the distinctions between gender and identity, history and allegory are blurred, and questions such as the meaning of the relationships between fathers and daughters, sexual identity in childhood and adolescence, new models of masculinity or what ideological grounds carry the narratives with which we grow up.
