Hardly anyone seems to care about the absence of Naomi Pine, a friendless teen and victim of bullying. There is only one exception for her: her classmate Matthew, who feels guilty about her for not standing up for her against her ruthless classmates. After a week with no word from Naomi, Matthew turns to her grandmother, celebrity TV lawyer Hester Crimstein, and her godfather, Wilde, to find out where the girl is. Wilde's past, living alone in the woods as a child for years, prevents him from fully integrating into a community, but he has skills that may be vital to finding the young woman before it's too late.
