El cazador
Tomeo, Javier
The day Julián turns 35 he makes a drastic decision: he will never leave his room again. There, accompanied by a clay monk, a clock that always shows the same time, a collection of toy bullfighters and an army of tin soldiers, he will be able to develop his multiple abilities in the most fabulous and amazing places. Locked in a world of 240 tiles, while his mother insistently knocks on the door, Julián will be a tiger hunter, a prince, a military strategist, ant, a ventriloquist, a courageous killer, a nightingale, an analyst in encrypted languages, or a specialist in cosmological and botanical matters. Julián, the only inhabitant of a perfect world full of overflowing humor and daily absurdity, belongs to the best lineage of other great characters incommunicado in literature: that of a Gregor Samsa trapped in the skin of an insect, that of the obstinate Bartleby or that of a Leopold Bloom held captive in Dublin. Because he shares with them a destiny that seems perfectly delineated and a strange sensation that the crazy comedy will soon turn into tragedy.
