El caso del caballero Gesualdo

Sánchez Jiménez, Antonio

On the night of October 29, 1590, Carlo Gesualdo, prince of Venosa, breaks into his wife's room armed. In a few minutes, she cuts her throat and ends with the Duke of Andria, surprising them both naked in the same bed. Twenty-three years later, already in his old age, Gesualdo is denounced before the Viceroy of Naples for his contacts with ghosts, witchcraft and the strange penances to which he is subjected. From Spain, King Felipe III sends a investigative judge, Don Diego de Carriazo, with orders that he treat the matter with discretion and throw land on the torments that plague the nobleman, famous for his madrigals and other musical compositions. At the pope's wish, Carriazo will be assisted by a bloody inquisitor, Father Bone, obsessed with evil, who clouds reason with his haunting shadows.
