El buen sexo mañana

mujer y deseo en la era del consentimiento

Angel, Katherine

As the author of this essay points out, in recent years two requirements have been established for satisfactory sex: consent and self-knowledge. When it comes to women, it seems that, in the name of empowerment and sexual freedom, they have to clearly and confidently express their preferences and wishes. This circumstance only burdens them: by presuming that they know exactly what they want and how to express it, they are held responsible for ensuring that the sexual experience is satisfactory. And what is more serious: the initial consent can be used as a permission or justification to exert violence on them. Divided into four compelling chapters -"On Consent", "On Desire", "On Arousal" and "On Vulnerability" - this book directly and thoroughly addresses the complex issue of female sexuality. Psychiatrist and sexologist Katherine Angel turns to various sources -science and popular culture, literature and pornography, as well as debates around #MeToo- in order to challenge all ingrained assumptions about women's desire and uncover the weaknesses of the rhetoric of consent and self-knowledge. Sex, according to Angel, is a long learning process during which many mistakes are made: we will have to evade yesterday's rules and rethink our current expectations so that the promise that Michel Foucault ironically formulated in 1976 is fulfilled: "The good will come. sex tomorrow".
