El buen nombre
Lahiri, Jhumpa
After slowly recovering from a terrible train accident and an arranged marriage to young Ashima, Ashoke Ganguli decides to abandon his comfortable and predictable existence in Calcutta, accept a scholarship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and move with his wife to Boston. His first child will be born there, who by chance will end up taking the name Gogol in honor of the famous Russian writer. The boy, the son of Bengalis, an American citizen and a Russian name, will grow up between korma and hamburgers, Beatles music and Bengali classes, trips to Calcutta, where he and his sister are considered foreigners, and Hindu rites celebrated on the ground. American; but, above all, he will grow surprised and perplexed by his own name.
