Darwin, Australia, 1942. As Japanese bombs rain down on her hometown, Molly Hook, the gravedigger's daughter, orphaned, looks up at the sky and runs for her life. In a duffel bag she carries a heart-shaped stone and a map that will guide her to Longcoat Bob, the sorcerer from deep Australia who she believes has placed a curse on her family. Joining her are the most unlikely travel companions: Greta, a sharp-tongued actress, and Yukio, a deserter Japanese fighter pilot. With messages from the sky to guide them to the treasure, but also with enemies following close behind, the trio will encounter the beauty and vastness of the Northern Territory and survive in ways they never thought possible.
