El árbitro de las lenguas
anotaciones sobre la norma y el uso en la Real Academia Española
Egido, Aurora
"The arbiter of languages" supposes a philological reflection on the theoretical questions related to the norm and use of Spanish, starting from a long rhetorical, grammatical and linguistic tradition that has evolved over time. Although the annotations refer fundamentally to the works of the Royal Spanish Academy and those published in collaboration with ASALE, their content is based on many others, circumscribed to a language that circumscribed the world and that has been configured in a multicenter and pan-Hispanic way in its wide and rich variety. The study pays particular attention to the figure of Blas Antonio de Nasarre and to an enlightened academic environment that anticipated current assumptions from the Horacian and humanistic conception of language as a living entity, subject to constant changes. Not in vain this evolves in a paradoxical way, driven by the uses that, finally, become norms.
