Durante la nevada

Roso, Luis
Year 1978. Two journalists are commissioned to travel to a remote town in the province of Burgos to make a report on a crime that occurred ten years ago. The body of a young woman was found in an icy lake in the mountains days after her disappearance was reported, in the middle of Christmas in 1968. The investigation was unsuccessful, and the case, which had great media coverage at the time, soon fell in oblivion. Miguel Ángel is a journalist of race, trained in the darkest years of the Franco regime and that an unfortunate incident with a police commissioner forced him to leave the capital and accept a post as editor in a small provincial newspaper. Esmeralda is a twenty-six-year-old girl raised in the shadow of her father, an Army officer, who has studied Journalism as a way to undermine parental authority. Miguel Ángel and Esmeralda will face together the journalistic investigation, which was expected to be anodyne but which will soon become a complex plot in which they themselves will be involved, to the point that their professional careers and even their own lives will be in danger. ETA terrorism and the underworld of influences and of those who best knew how to make the Transition to maintain their power and authority, and, above all, the ins and outs of the fervent journalistic activity of the newly launched democracy will serve as a backdrop for a story over which the memory of the girl murdered on the mountain constantly hangs.
