Zel keeps a list of forbidden wishes in a drawer where Mother can't see them. She is going to turn eighteen and she hopes that mother will finally let her out into the world so she can run across the fields, see the sea and smile at some stranger. But that won't happen until an outlaw sneaks into her room and she finds the perfect opportunity to escape from her. In excruciating fear, even if she busts her chest, she lets that lanky, sarcastic boy take her to her city where she will feel triple what she imagined being locked in her room. She will be able to learn more about herself through Jack and Flyn, the two safecrackers who will drive her crazy but will make her question everything she knows.
