Doña Preocupación
Sudermann, Hermann
With the present edition of "Doña Concern", Suddermann's first novel, we recover one of the most unfairly forgotten authors of German literature. The work, based in part on his own childhood and youth experiences, reflects key themes and motifs of his time, such as determinism, embodied in his (anti)hero, Paul, the role of the Church, speculation and capitalism, family conflicts, the social position of women or the concepts of duty and honor, which are interwoven throughout a plot that the author leads to a hopeful outcome.
