"Don Quijote de la Mancha" o el triunfo de la ficción caballeresca

Egido, Aurora

This study intends to reread "Don Quixote" in light of the tournaments and the literary and knightly jousts that appear in the work, placing them in the historical context in which they take place. His analysis deals with the distinction between the two parts that make up the work, since both correspond to kingdoms with different characteristics (Castilla, in the case of the first, and Aragón in the second), always starting from the ideals nurtured by an international cavalry, spread throughout Europe since the Middle Ages and later transferred to America, which embodied monarchical, aristocratic and ecclesiastical ideals. From this perspective, the importance of military and ecclesiastical orders, parades and festive gatherings, and social satire, theater, poetic jousting, and the world of printers and printers are examined and discussed, in addition to many other themes present in one of the most widely read and influential works in the history of literature.
