Don Giussani, el ímpetu de una vida

Don Giussani, el ímpetu de una vida

el retrato sobre el fundador de Comunión y Liberación

Haro, Fernando de

At the beginning of the 1950s, a young Italian priest noticed that the vast majority of the young people he met manifested great ignorance about Christianity or lived their faith without compromise. Faced with this reality, which disturbs him, he decides to abandon a promising career as a professor at the Faculty of Theology of Venegono and begins to teach religion at a public institute in Milan. After a first meeting with a few students, he manages to gather several hundred boys and girls around him who will begin to give life to a new ecclesial experience. Starting in the 1970s, the movement started by Fr. Giuss will be known as "Communion and Liberation", in which tens of thousands of people from more than 70 countries participate today. Luigi Giussani rediscovered in tradition and in the history of the Church a new way of challenging the men and women of our time. He encouraged young people, from friendship to close conversations and to live their Christian faith with commitment. In 1983, Pope John Paul II granted him the title of Monsignor; in 1995 he received the International Gold Medal Award for the merit of Catholic Culture; and in 2003, shortly before he died, the Macchi Award from the Catholic School Parents Association. These pages are the fruit of the author's research from various sources, from direct testimonies and from what Fr. Giuss himself said and wrote. We will learn who this charismatic Ambrosian priest was, how he lived, and what he did to attract thousands of young people and adults to Christianity, becoming his companion and teacher.
