The Dolomites stretch across five provinces and three regions of Italy. An immense territory, above all because of its three-dimensionality, since it also stretches to the top. Moreover, we could say that in four dimensions, taking into account gorges, gorges and caves. The chapters of this guide cover, from west to east, the vast territory occupied by the nine dolomite systems that form part of the UNESCO heritage: spectacular geological structures, the remains of a series of atolls that outcropped millions of years ago on a warm sea tropical, at the bottom of which today lie the fabulous valleys of the Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions.
