Distritos innovadores

Distritos innovadores

cómo diseñar e implementar la transformación de la ciudad del siglo XXI

Barceló, Miquel (1949- )

The cities of the 21st century are in the midst of a transition process from a model based on urban planning that separates residential uses from those of economic activities, to a city with sustainable urban planning and a productive and mobility pattern. For this transformation, cities need to create urban environments capable of attracting talent and competitive investment, that is, innovative districts. An innovative district is an urban area in which companies and knowledge centers connect with small businesses and start-ups, and are incubators and accelerators of economic growth. In addition, it must be a physical space based on a mix of uses with homes, offices and services, and that is attractive to international talent. This book proposes an innovative district model made up of five interrelated subsystems, which are: urban planning, economic strategy, the knowledge base, social integration and the governance model necessary for the design, promotion and district management. The contents of the work are of interest to both the academic and professional world. But also for public administrations that act on cities and want to understand their new dynamics in a global world. The book contains the concepts and methodologies for designing, developing and managing an innovative district in a city.
