Diez mil elefantes

In 1944, under Franco's mandate, a team of photographers and filmmakers traveled to Guinea to portray the colonial life of that unusual Black Spain in the heart of Africa. One of those "image hunters" was Manuel Hernández Sanjuán, who after two years in the place amassed a colossal archive, now forgotten. The story of his expedition is recovered here narrated by Ngono Mbá, one of the porters who participated in the strange journey that had to "document" the invented truths of that regime: that non-memorized memory that continues to be the Spanish colonial past today.
