After the last battle in the ruins of the city of Babel, the once best friends suddenly find themselves on opposite sides of the same quest. Eve is torn between memories of the girl she once was and the synthetic creation she has discovered is herself. Together with her realist "brothers", she sets out in search of the real Ana Monrova, whose DNA is the key to building an army of realists. Meanwhile, Lemon is coming to terms with a power she has long denied...and that others want to weaponize. After meeting a strange boy named Grimm, he offers to take her away from her terrifying setting and lead her to an enclave with others like her. There, Lemon soon discovers that she has found a place where she fits in (and maybe love). But not everything is as it seems, and with enemies and friends, heroes and villains with interchangeable faces, Lemon will also join the race to track down Ana Monrova before her former best friend does it first.
