Desenterrando el pasado
la gran aventura de la arqueología
II Premio Nacional de Arqueología y Paleontología Fundación Palarq
Fundación Palarq
La Garma is a prehistoric time capsule. A hill pierced by numerous caves and galleries in which 13 archaeological sites have been identified that document the human presence in Cantabria over 400,000 years. A landslide sealed the entrance to the main cave, which has made it possible to preserve the remains of Paleolithic hunters just as their last inhabitants left them. The Lower Gallery of La Garma is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world, probably the most promising of those currently being documented. For all these reasons, the La Garma project has been awarded the II Palarq Foundation National Award for Archeology and Paleontology. Discover in these pages the wonders of La Garma with spectacular images and attractive infographics, and the projects of the rest of the contest's finalists: the Neolithic settlement of La Draga, in Banyoles (Girona); the Argaric deposits of Almoloya and Bastida, in Murcia; the project that recalls the scenes of the Second Punic War in the Upper Guadalquivir and in Italy, and the Djehuty project for the restoration of Egyptian tombs in Luxor.
