Democracia de trincheras

Do we vote out of party loyalty or do we decide which policies are best for us? Is politics increasingly tribal or has it always been like this? Do we opt for the candidate we like the most or vote against the one we hate?The political scientist Lluís Orriols shows us an alternative vision of how citizens really think and act in politics and shows us a democracy that is more like trench warfare than a supermarket: voters are not consumers who choose in everythe best product at the moment, but they conceive politics largely as a war of factions, of friends against enemies, of mine against yours. Democracy in the trenches addresses the different political phenomena from the perspective of the psychology of citizens - how they are informed, how they construct political reality and how they make decisions - and gives the keys to the decisive role that identity has in our democracy.
