Christmas Eve 1959, Adelaide Heights, Australia. At the end of a hot day, by a stream on the grounds of the Turner family mansion, a delivery man makes a shocking discovery. A police investigation begins and the small town of Tambilla is thrown into one of the most baffling and painful murder cases in South Australian history. Sixty years later Jess has lost her job at the newspaper and is struggling to make ends meet. Immersed in finding a good story that will change her luck, she receives an unexpected call for which she decides to leave London and return to Sydney. Her grandmother Nora, with whom she grew up, has suffered a fall and she is hospitalized. The memory of her beloved grandmother contrasts with the reality of her finding a fragile and bewildered woman. With nothing to do at Nora's house, Jess snoops around and discovers a book in the old woman's bedroom detailing the police investigation of a long-forgotten tragedy: that of the Turner family on Christmas Eve 1959. As she leafs through the book, Jess discovers an amazing connection between her family and that event. Since then, the search for the truth will be the only possible path.
