A man descends from a plane in the Galapagos Islands. He is a musician and has chosen that part of the world so far from the known to spend his sixtieth birthday alone because, in addition to having read Darwin a lot, he wants to be as far away from himself as possible: he has fallen in love with a woman, Ruth, who she considers him too old for her. This staunch defender of irony as the most exquisite form of humor will then begin a self-absorbed journey through the islands, a journey through life and through the passage of time, an intimate story about the ways of male love, a kind of tourist guide on the future of human beings in the world and, of course, about the odious lack of Ruth.
