A dark and criminal plot has been maneuvering in the dark around the world for years from a peaceful vineyard in the Swiss Lavaux. The strange disappearance of a Norwegian waitress in Marseille puts detective Anton Merchant on the trail of this dark affair, which will lead him to his nemesis Tim Ryan ten years later, and will cross him in the path of a flag sugarcane cop, Henry La Sucia , who doesn't like being meddled in her investigations and for whom Anton feels a powerful attraction.
