Cumbres borrascosas
Brontë, Emily
The case of the English writer Emily Brontë is truly exceptional within literature. She died very young, leaving only one novel, Wuthering Heights, the epic story of Catherine and Heathcliff, set in the bleak and desolate moors of Yorkshire, constitutes an astonishing metaphysical vision of destiny, obsession, passion and revenge. Published for the first time in 1847, a year before the author died, this work completely broke with the canons of "decorum" that Victorian England demanded of all novels. This work is a long and extraordinary description of the acts and psychological problems of crazy or perverse beings who lead a miserable and evil existence. With them, the author offers us a vision of these characters who act demonically due to Protestant aridity that is diluted in each and every one of its pages.
