Cròniques de Palma
Alou, Damià
Chronicles of Palma is a mosaic of stories that offer us a journey through a century of Palmas life, from the beginning of the Civil War to the uncomfortable future of 2036, when a strange Virus and a strange Phenomenon have left a city in ruins where time seems to fold in on itself and past and present erase its borders. We will find more or less well-known characters, such as Llorenç, an aspiring writer who will see how the post-war period opens the door to a success that hides a secret infamy and a lost love; or Lluís Petrus, the first Majorcan judo champion, now in full decline, who finds himself embroiled in a murky plot in which he is not the most unsuccessful, or Biel, a retaliatory master, who many years later discovers the parallel life that I could have had. Between autofiction and chronicle, mixing real characters and invented circumstances, the author presents us with a Palma born from old black and white photographs, a city that has already disappeared under the uniformity of franchises that we can only evoke in imperfect memories and fictions nostalgic.
