Crítica de la estética idealista
Bürger, Peter
Twentieth-century art has profoundly affected the categories of idealist aesthetics, which, nevertheless, is proposed as an adequate theoretical framework for understanding contemporary art. This book by Peter Bürger approaches its critique against the background of the situation created by contemporary art and the analysis of the limits of the critiques made by Theodor Adorno, Walter Benjamin and Hans-Georg Gadamer. Critique of Idealist Aesthetics is divided into three parts. The first deals with idealist aesthetics as a solution to the subject-object problem on the basis of the thought of Schelling, Hegel, Goethe, among other authors, and the Romantic programme of the "new mythology". The second one deals with its fundamental categories: appearance, taste, genius? The relations between aesthetics and morality in the analysis of the sublime " tragedy, dream and reason" are the focus of the third part.
