1179. Henry II is King of England and his rule extends to Wales, Ireland, Normandy, Britain and Aquitaine. The Plantagenet house has managed to seize power and rule its territory with an iron fist. However, within the family the waters are never calm and rumors of rebellion are constant. Ferdia -an Irish nobleman who has been taken prisoner during the conquest of his country- saves the life of Richard, the king's son, and becomes his squire. Together they will cross the English Channel and fight to reduce the rebel uprisings in Aquitaine. It will be in those lands where Ricardo, already a respected warrior, will earn the nickname of Heart of the Lion. But Enrique, the eldest son, sees with growing suspicion the military success of his brother Ricardo.
