With You in the Ether is a unique contemporary love story that explores the nature of love, what it means to not feel good, and how to deal with our own brokenness while still loving like we're not broken. Two people meet by chance at the Art Institute. Before their unexpected meeting, he is a PhD student managing his destructive thoughts with compulsive calculations about time travel; she's a bipolar fake artist who goes to court-ordered psychotherapy. By the end of the story, none of that will have changed. But this is not a story about endings. To Regan, people are predictable and tedious, including (and maybe especially) her. She deals with the monotony of existence by living impulsively, imagining a new, alternate time created from each hasty decision. For Aldo, the world is disturbingly chaotic. He faces the days by erecting a wall of routine, a rhythm of rules and formulas that keep him going. Without them, the entire framework of his existence would collapse. For Regan and Aldo, life has been about resigning themselves to blueprints of inevitability, until they meet.
