Comedia popular española
la tragedia del tiempo
Pérez Morán, Ernesto
'Españolada'. 'Landismo'. 'Cine de barrio'. All quite imprecise terms that serve to designate the Spanish popular comedy. The one that summons more public. The one that raises unconfessed passions. And that which is an ideological vehicle of the first magnitude too many times overlooked. A comedy that seems to have been changing over the last fifty years, although an in-depth analysis reveals that different skins hide the same reactionary and sexist discourses. For this reason, we will stop at the thematic axes of each of the five periods into which we have divided this study, which also addresses the formal constants of some comedies that, as a genre, have changed so little that they represent our particular tragedy.
