With stories, legends and fables, all peoples have tried to explain the world, its origin and the reason for what happens around the human being in relation to nature and supernatural forces. Since ancient times, oral storytellers -and later writers- have given explanations and behavior patterns about the meaning of our existence and our destiny through their fantastic stories. It would suffice to dwell on the abundance of exotic names of flowers and plants related to classical mythology, which have later passed into our folklore and whose protagonists embody the virtues, vices and attitudes of the human condition, as are also reflected in the classic fables of Aesop, Samaniego, La Fontaine or Rafael Pombo. In the selection of texts for this edition of Seve Calleja, we have tried to collect some samples, in some cases bringing together texts by the great fabulists from both sides of the Atlantic and interweaving them with each other through imaginary narrators in the case of short stories. and selected legends.
