Cocuyo

Cocuyo

Sarduy, Severo

Who is Cocuyo and what has he come to this world to do? Cocuyo is this child, barely the project of a man, who walks alone through the crowded streets of Havana and Camagüey - hopelessly alone - while he discovers the adult world, a universe full of contrasts: the beauty of a pale complexion, the protection of some maternal arms; but also, the sordidness of a prostitute's caress and the cruelty of sinister beings... A character that the reader falls in love with due to his absolute humanity and imperfection. Cocuyo's mind will expand as life makes its way through the experience, sweet at times, painfully real at others.
