Following a petty battle between two forgotten kingdoms in 14th century India, a nine-year-old girl has an unexpected encounter that will change the course of history. After witnessing the death of her mother, the girl, Pampa Kampana, becomes a receptacle for a goddess who begins to speak through her mouth. The goddess grants him powers that are beyond the comprehension of PampaKampana and confides in him that he will be instrumental in the erection of a great city called Bisnaga, literally "city of victory", the wonder of the world. In the following two and a half centuries, the life of Pampa Kampana will be closely linked to that of Bisnaga, from the sowing of a bag of magical seeds to its tragic loss due to purely human reasons: the arrogance of those in power. Bringing life to Bisnaga and her citizens through whispers, Pampa Kampana tries to fulfill the task that the goddess has imposed on her: to vindicate women in a patriarchal world. But things tend to escape the designs of their creator, and Bisnaga will not be an exception. The years go by, rulers succeed one another as well as battles, loyalty changes, Bisnaga's own fabric becomes an increasingly complex tapestry, at the center of which there is always Pampa Kampana.
