Cinematógrafo
Carranque de Ríos, Andrés
With a marked influence from Galdós and Dos Passos, Cinematograph was published in 1936, when the young Carranque de Ríos had won the admiration of writers like Baroja and he only had a few months to live. The novel presents a framed fresco in the center of Madrid during the twenties and thirties with an avant-garde montage in which the points of view between various characters alternate. Through them, he delves into topics such as the rise of scientific advances of the time, migration from the countryside to the big cities and the social ins and outs of the film industry in Spain with an unquestionable class consciousness.
