Cicatrices en el hielo
Doménech del Río, Inés
After years of professional practice in rural areas, the coroner Carlota Suarez returns to Malaga, her hometown. With her usual enthusiasm, she will face the consequences of her transfer, with new colleagues like Inspector Aranda, old friends like the homicide chief Domínguez, the distance from her husband Javier and the loneliness that she stalks. Along with all this, she will have to face "brutality from the point of view of those who live with its consequences." A suicide and the discovery of two suitcases with a macabre content (the corpses of two young women), introduce us fully into surprising events and the sordid world of prostitution, where women and girls, to get a better life, they cross the ocean with false promises and when they arrive they find themselves trapped. The evidence in the removal of the corpse and the findings of the autopsies of those corpses will guide the path of the police investigation. But Carlota Suárez's work is complicated by the autopsies of two strangled men, which implicates her closest circle. Carlota puts on her latex gloves again and goes beyond the scalpel, getting involved in a story that crosses the lives of those around her, and she will unearth clues until she reveals a reality that discovers family secrets, and awakens ghosts from the past, those who confront her with pain and recognize her vocation.
