Cayo Hueso

Cayo Hueso is the last remaining island from Florida, swimming in the middle of the Antilles, halfway between Cuba and the continent. It is there that the old captain who tells this story lives, in the lobster fishery, and it is there that the other protagonists of the novel appear unexpectedly: first the music critic Virgil and then the jazz singer Maudey with his band. The personality and elegance shown in the previous book (The Story of the River) are also evident in this one: the play of variations on the eternal love story, the style full of nuances, the setting that seems to be set in an old movie, the echo of the music that sweetly enters the ear and sticks there...
