Catalanes en la historia de España
García Cárcel, Ricardo
(ed.)
Pérez Samper, María de los Ángeles
(ed.)
Through the biographies of fourteen Catalans in modern and contemporary times (from Estefanía de Requesens to the Catalans of the Spanish Political Transition, passing through Capmany, Prim, Pi i Margall, Balmes, Cambó, Pla or Carceller, to name the most significant) the Catalonia-Spain dialectic is explored in all its historical moments of collaboration and conflict. There are not all the characters that should be there due to their role in the Catalonia-Spain conjunction, but there are all who are. The sample of the fourteen characters is representative of the Catalans who looked at Spain from an integrating and inclusive perspective. The ultimate lesson from this book is that Catalonia and Spain owe a lot to each other.
