Michelangelo
García López, David (ed.)

The letters that Miguel Ángel Buonarroti wrote between July 2, 1496, when he was twenty-one years old, and February 1564, shortly before his death, constitute an irreplaceable source to know his life, his personality and his not always friendly relations with relatives, artists and rulers of the time. Of particular interest are the references to the creative process of his most important works (specifically to the volumetric development, the growing gestural complication and the spatial organization of the scenes), but also those that help to illustrate his development as a man and as artist. This translation, carried out by David García López, who is also the author of the selection and the prologue, is the first to be made into Spanish of this correspondence. The edition is completed with some letters addressed to Michelangelo himself, in order to facilitate the contextualization of those written by the artist himself.
