Carlos Gardel en España
I Premio Internacional Cuadernos del Laberinto de Historia, Biografía y Memorias, 2020
Guerrero Cabrera, Manuel
Carlos Gardel, the creator of tango, the unique singer, El Zorzal, el Mudo, el Mago, the immortal smile, the eternal voice. What a voice...! The same as Mano a mano, Tomo y obligo, Volver and My beloved Buenos Aires. Carlos Gardel, the myth, was in Spain on several occasions on the stages of Madrid, Barcelona and other cities that admired him. "Carlos Gardel in Spain" traces the singer's journey through Spanish lands between 1923 and 1933, providing unpublished and novel information so far, such as a performance announced in Zamora and a party at the Ritz Hotel in Madrid in 1926, and raises the importance of the relationships that he established with other artists and with personalities of Spanish and, fundamentally, Catalan society. Thus, despite coming from such different backgrounds, they have in common that at some point they treated Gardel: Isabel Llorach, Santiago Rusiñol, Samitier, Ortega y Gasset, Jacinto Benavente, Pastora Imperio, Rafael Alberti, María Guerrero, Ramper, Alady .. And, as with all myths, a literature about the singer also emerged that is also analyzed in this book.
