Capitalismo (1679-2065)

una aproximación al sistema económico que ha producido más prosperidad y desigualdad en el mundo

Niño Becerra, Santiago

The arrival of the coronavirus has only been the accelerator of an inevitable process in the evolution of the Capitalist System. This is how Professor Santiago Niño-Becerra explains it in this book. With the clarity and forcefulness that characterize it, it places the current economic uncertainty in the long history of Capitalism. And it also announces what is to come: a new form of more dehumanized Capitalism. Ten years ago the system imploded and entered a crash as serious and lasting as the one in 1929. The crisis is not over yet, although this time its end is being announced. There is very little to do before something that in fact has already begun to occur: the arrival of a more technological Capitalism, much more flexible and increasingly unequal. The labor factor will no longer be key in the functioning of the economy. The social protection model will go down in history. The compensation will come with the introduction of universal basic income systems, cheap leisure and other formulas that allow citizens to escape from reality. And, in half a century, Capitalism will cease to be useful and will end up being replaced by another system.
